I’m considering something new.
When I first conceived the idea for this blog, I wanted to document the wedding planning process, and after I was no longer a bride but just a plain-old married person, I thought I’d write about that part of my life. Now, I look at the name Just Married, and I think, it just doesn’t cover it anymore. I don’t want to be someone who defines herself only by a relationship status. I want to be seen as someone with a career and hobbies and a full life of experiences who also happens to be a mom. And I want to write about all of those things.
For quite some time, I’ve wanted to change the title of my blog. Just Married has served me well, but as mentioned above, I’ve outgrown it. The web address will remain the same, and I don’t want to change the vibe or make drastic changes to the content, I just want to do a little re-branding.
But I have one problem.
I’m stuck.
I cannot come up with a new title for my blog. And that is why I’m turning to all of you. I am looking for something that captures the spirit of my posts but that isn’t cheesy.
I am genuinely interested in your comments and opinions, so please, please share your thoughts with me. The best suggestion will get a virtual high-five as well as my undying praise and gratitude. How do you feel about a title change, and do you have any suggestions [insert sincere/earnest/hopeful face here]?
Soooo I’m a brand new reader and really not much help with coming up with new ideas for names since I haven’t read many of your posts, haha!
I know for me, when I was picking a blog name, I wanted something that would always be true for us. Originally I wanted to have a name about being newly married, but I figured I’d eventually be “old-ly” married. Then I considered something about living in Memphis, but it’s possible I won’t live here forever. Then I considered something about fixing up our home because we were really involved in that at the time or even about cooking because I love that. But my blog is really just about our life in general and all the random things I’m interested in. I remember thinking “this is just a blog about ‘this family’…” then I decided that it makes sense to call it just that! But of course that was taken already so I decided to go with my husband’s heritage/our last name and call the blog “This Italian Family”. Hopefully that helps a little.
This was incredibly helpful. Thank you SO much for taking the time to give me such good advice. I think I need to stop over-thinking (as I mentioned in response to another comment), and just let my mind wander through a series of ideas until one sticks. As you’re suggesting, it will probably be an organic kind of process, and when I know it–I’ll KNOW it!
Thanks again!!
I haven’t been reading your blog for long, so I don’t have too much to offer. What if you did something like, “Something old – something new,” because then it pays tribute to your original “Just Married” title with a hint at that old saying (something borrowed, etc.). You can blog memories (something old) and it leaves room for continuous growth (something new).
The blog is defined by what you write and how it makes you feel, not what’s in the header. Whatever you choose will be wonderful as long as it’s you!
Thank you so much for the advice. You’re so right to point out that the blog isn’t defined by what is in my header. Perhaps, I’m just over-thinking it. Then again, I over-think everything!
I had loved writing for my blog ‘Simple Moment’s for a couple of years and then I too felt that need to change… which is when I came up with ‘Just Live It’. So I completely understand that need for a change! Sometimes, I wonder if I’ll even change my blog again, should Nate and I have kids. (Hmmm, I wonder). Anyway, one thing I thought of for you was “Our Happy Ever After.” (Because it kind of fits with the ‘Just Married’ theme, but focuses on what came next). Or you could just add to ‘Just Married’. Like “Just Married (plus a few years)”. Ha, ha. I’m sorry, I’m ‘really’ bad at this! Keep up the brainstorming, and I’ll let you know if I actually come up with anything clever.
Thanks, Nicole! I am really struggling with this one! I am just so bad at titles for some reason. I felt inspired today with all the comments and came up with an idea, but when I told Mike, he paused and said, “I like it,” with a hesitation to his voice. Sigh.
Metamorphosis comes to mind. You’ve transformed from a fiancee to a wife, and now a mother.
